GRIFID HOTELS – OUR COMMITMENT

We at GRIFID HOTELS are aware how important is the environment and its protection for our busines to exist and develop. As a tourist service supplier we are extremely interested to have a policy that keeps and protects the resources and we strive to minimize our business operational impact on the environment through good practices and modern methods in our work.

We at GRIFID HOTELS engage all members of staff in our efforts to have sustainable and ,, green ,, business. We all work in several main directions that assist us achieving our goal to manage hotels that alongside with their operation, contribute to the environmental protection.

  • We strictly comply with the Bulgarian and European legislation and norms with respect to the environmental protection, labor and human rights, health and safety, financial norms and requirements.
  • We always set new criteria not only with respect to guest satisfaction, but related to reduction of electricity, gas, water and fuel consumption, less use of hazardous substances and detergents.
  • We inform, invite and make aware our customers and staff how to save water and electricity, to separate the waste, to be involved in activities related to cleaning and protection of the environment. We invite our guests to use their bath towels more than once in order to reduce the negative impact of the laundry detergents. Information on sustainable tourism can be found in the kiosks situated in our lobbies, on the information boards in the common areas in each of our hotels.
  • All rooms and common areas are with energy efficient lighting, movement censors and censor for automatic shutdown of the air conditioning in the room upon an open door. Showers, sinks and toilets are with minimum water consumption.
  • GRIFID HOTELS Laundry is opened in 2015, the machines are with highest class of energy efficiency and low consumption of water and laundry detergents.
  • All cleaning detergents used in our kitchens, restaurants and bars and housekeeping are environmentally safety – quickly or absolutely dissolved.
  • For all employees we provide transportation to the working place in order to minimize the negative effect of the car emmission.
  • Guests and staff both are so important for us. GRIFID HOTELS being an employer of approximately 1400 employees we strive to offer one of the best working conditions:
  • All 7 hotels of the chain are situated in Golden Sands resort. We provide transportation from Varna, as well as from other towns in the area such as Dobrich, Beloslav, Cherna etc.
  • Company provides staff uniforms
  • During off season employees can benefit of free foreign language courses
  • In 2015 was opened the Grifid education center. There we provide training for the following proficiencies: waiter, cook, ship cook, baker, bar tender, chambermaid. After finishing the theoretical part of the education, the students have the right to a practical training at GRIFID HOTELS. The center is licensed under Bulgarian legislation and the issued diplomas are internationally recognized.
  • We organize waste separation: paper, metal, plastics, glass, biodegraded waste. All goods are delivered in big packaging in order to minimize the disposal waste.
  • We from GRIFID HOTELS organize and take active part in social and charity activities to improve the touristic infrastructure, cultural and natural resources of Varna region.
  • Upon purchasing the food products for our restaurants we prefer local producers. We do stimulate the numerous clients during summer season to visit more cultural and natural places of interest.
  • We do use electronic mail communication in order to reduce print outs and paper use.

Policy Statement for Environmental Management

It is the shared commitment of the Management and Owner of GRIFID HOTELS to ensure optimal environmental management in its operation.

Through our environmental policy we will:

  • Ensure we comply with all applicable environmental laws and regulations
  • Train our staff on our environmental commitments, so they understand the role they play in delivering our objectives and targets
  • Invite our guests to support our efforts to reduce our environmental impacts

To achieve our environmental goals, we will:

  • Achieve and maintain our Travelife for Hotels and Accommodations award
  • Ensure optimal energy efficiencies, by undertaking the following:
  • Low energy light bulbs or LED lights will be used in all public areas, accommodations and back-of- house areas
  • Ensure all staff are trained as appropriate in energy conservation
  • Outdoor lighting will be controlled by approved written time schedule
  • Ensuring all rooms are equipped with electronic key cards that shut off the power supply when the guest removes the key before leaving the room
  • Ensuring all windows and doors are connected with the AC system in order the AC to be turned off when door/ window is open
  • Ensure procedures to minimize overall water consumptions, by undertaking the following
  • Asking our guests to support our towel reuse program
  • Set the amount of water in the WC cisterns from 6l to 4l to reduce the amount of water the toilet uses during a flush
  • Ensure all staff are trained as appropriate in water saving.
  • Reduce the waste production in all areas of the hotel by
  • Purchase in bulk to avoid excess packaging
  • Refill toner and printer cartridges
  • Separating as much as possible our waste streams including glass, paper, cardboard
  • Ensure that all solid waste is disposed in compliance with national and international waste regulation and keeping a record to reflect the compliance
  • Reduce the use of potentially harmful chemicals used in our day-to-day operations
  • Wherever possible, the hotel will avoid the use of chemicals
  • It will ensure safe disposal of all chemicals that are in use
  • Recognizing the impact of the tourism on natural resource availability and climate change, we will work to ensure Hotel Grifid Arabella will incorporate energy saving devices where possible, ensure responsible waste management, avoid pollution, and encourage customers to respect and participate in the efforts to minimize the environmental impact of the operation.

 

Written Policy Statement for Human Resource Management

It is the shared commitment of the management and owners of Grifid hotels to ensure that all our employees are afforded excellent possible working conditions at all times.

Through our Human resource Management policy we will:

  • Ensure we comply with all applicable labor and human resource law and regulations
  • Offer equal rights and opportunities for all our employees
  • Offer trainings
  • Offer payments due to the legislation

To achieve our goals, we will:

  • Achieve and maintain our Travelife for Hotels and Accommodations award
  • Ensure that a fair system is in place so that all applicants for available positions are fairly considered. Grifid hotels will not discriminate in any way and welcomes applications from all candidates regardless of their race, age, sex, nationality, disability or religion
  • Throughout the period of employment all Grifid hotels employees will have a contract that meets as minimum the regulations as stipulated by national law
  • Ensuring employees are paid a living wage or a wage equal to the national legal minimum wage
  • Ensure all new employees are provided with appropriate induction and training, covering such areas as company philosophy and culture, product knowledge, employment welfare and benefits, health and safety, etc

To achieve our goals, we will:

  • Achieve and maintain our Travelife for Hotels and Accommodations award
  • Whilst ensuring that quality of product or commercial feasibility is not compromised, we aim to purchase and promote production from the local area
  • We pay our suppliers within the credit terms they request
  • We are informing clients about the our culture and traditions and kindly requesting to respect it
  • We work closely with local schools and colleges to provide work experience opportunities
  • We working actively with the Labor Offices in the region to provide more employment and reduce unemployment in the region.
  • GRIFID HOTELS is a member of the Varna Chamber of Tourism, Hotelier’s Union at Golden Sands. We aim to ensure that through this we are able to promote and improve greater economic and social benefits for the residential and business community
  • It is the policy of Grifid hotels that whenever items such as furniture or linen are no longer suitable for use within the hotel, it will offer this items to local organizations that might benefit from them.

It is the shared commitment of the Management and Owner of GRIFID HOTELS to ensure that ongoing quality improvement is an integral part of our organization.

Through our Quality Assurance Management policy we will:

  • Implement and maintain system for Quality Assurance Management
  • Provide high quality and safe services to all guests
  • Ensure positive impact on the environment
  • Ensure pleasant working environment for all employees

To achieve our goals, we will:

  • Achieve and maintain our Travelife for Hotels and Accommodations award
  • Guarantee food safety by strict compliance with the HACCP system
  • Strive to maintain and improve the high online reviews results we presently have. Within 3 days we personally answer all comments and reviews.
  • Organize regular internal questionnaire with all guests in house and collecting feedback for our services and quality of product.
  • Listen to our customers’ needs and suggestions for improvement and implement them when corresponding to the product.
  • Work actively with Tourism schools and universities from Bulgaria and abroad and to integrate in the team young students and future professionals in hospitality.
  • Organize foreign language courses for the staff with professional teachers
  • Have a Guest relation in each property for dealing with guest requests, questions, special needs etc.

It is the shared commitment of the Management and the Owner of GRIFID HOTELS to ensure optimal Health and Safety management in our daily operation.

Through our Health and Safety policy we will:

  • Ensure we comply with all applicable Health and Safety laws and regulations, as well as FTO standards
  • Ensure to provide healthy and safe workplace for all employees, visitors and guests
  • Actively encourage controlling risk in workplace activities
  • Strive for continuous improvement in workplace health and safety

To achieve our Health and Safety commitment, we will strive to:

  • Provide adequate control of the health and safety risks arising from our operation activities;

Policy Statement for Children’s Rights

It is the shared commitment of the Management and Owners of GRIFID HOTELS to respect and support children’s rights and actively implements the Children’s Rights.

Through our Children’s Rights policy we will:

  • Ensure we comply with all applicable Children’s Rights laws and regulations
  • Ensure we train and inform employees in children’s rights
  • Ensure we provide information to travellers on children’s rights, the prevention of child sexual exploitation and how to report suspected cases

 

To achieve our Children’s Rights policy, we will:

  • Condemn all forms of exploitation of children
  • Not recruit child labor
  • Support the elimination of exploitative child labor
  • Support laws duly enacted to prevent and punish the crime of sexual exploitation of children
  • Work to raise awareness concerning such exploitation
  • Will cooperate with law enforcement authorities to address any such instances of exploitation of which the Company becomes aware

A Local Purchasing Policy

It is a documented commitment of the Management and Owner of GRIFID HOTELS to give preference to locally produced goods and services, purchased from a local and independent business, over those produced more distantly.

Through our Local Purchasing Policy we will:

  • Ensure we comply with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Train our staff from Delivery department for many well-documented benefits to communities and to each of us to choosing local, independently owned suppliers
